Travel softball is an exciting fast-paced game geared for players looking for competition and skill building. Players should understand that the commitment will start with Sunday afternoon practices beginning in winter and culminate in the playing season from May thru July. Players who are looking for more action and willing to make a greater commitment than is offered during "typical house league play" are ready for Express softball.
When accepting placement on the Express, you'll be committing to the number of tournaments and NSFPL games appropriate for your age level. It's expected that you will maintain this commitment knowing that one week in middle of season will be free (due to house league playoffs) and that coaches can show greater flexibility if conflicts are identified up front.
No, it is not a requirement that travel players also play house league. However, the EBSA house league and Express travel will work together to limit possible conflicts to allow for players to play for house and travel.
It should be understood that where house league and travel conflict, players will be expected to maintain their commitment to travel.
Travel and house softball are two completely different entities. With a few exceptions at the 10U level, travel games follow high school & college rules including stealing of all bases and drop third strike. Additionally, players will be expected to build bunting and slapping skills and will face pitching at speeds ranging from 40 mph (at 10U) to 60 mph (at 14U).
Experienced coaches will be made available for extra "one on one" training lessons, pitching training, and team improvement sessions. While all teams will be led by experienced coaches, some extra training may require extra (though discounted) fees. (Note: No extra fee will be required beyond registration and uniform fees disclosed during tryouts and placement.)
We're a budding organization always looking for volunteers. We're looking for coaching, administrative and fundraising help. Please contact us at email@example.com for more volunteer information.
While we hope that all players can attend tryouts, we understand that conflicts do exist. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange an alternate tryout time if you can't be there for tryouts.
Each team will determine their own practice schedule and likely a handful of league games in the Fall. Fall practice is more casual than Spring/Summer and girls are encourage to play other sports or activities during the Fall.
